Misery Loves Company
Miss Ogamy and the Men
"Everything is always about you," I snapped. "Everything Excitement wants, when he wants it, how he wants it. It’s always about you!"
I could see the wounded expression on his face even as he focused on the eggs he was cooking on the stove. It only seemed to fuel my anger.
"What did we do today?" I demanded. "Today was all about yoy. What would make Excitement happy? You never thought about me. I asked you for one thing and you couldn’t even do that. Why couldn’t you do that one thing for me?"
"I don’t know," Excitement answered me passively, poking at the eggs again. I was quick to supply the answer.
"You just want me to be miserable. That’s why you isolate me. I have no friends and it’s all because of you. You ran off all my friends with your drinking. And my mother! My own mother doesn’t love me anymore and it’s all your fault!"
"How is that my fault?" he gasped, looking up from the stove for the first time during my tirade.
"I chose you over her and she’ll never forgive me for it. I can see I made the wrong choice."I pointed accusingly at him, and then threw up my hands in frustration. "I’m leaving. Just show me where you hid the car keys!"
"You’re not leaving," Excitement said with the utmost patience in his voice.
"The hell I’m not!" I snarled. "I’m not your prisoner! I’m not your slave! I can go whenever I want."
"You don’t really want to go, you’re having a breakthrough. You’ll feel better in the morning. You’ll realize you didn’t mean any of this and you will just feel bad about everything you’ve said."
